A local-level support group that responds well to the needs and interests of its members, reaches a diverse range of people and demonstrates good communication and structure within the group.

Southampton Ostomates Support Group (S.O.S)

Nomination Text: S.O.S aims to befriend, support and give information about various products to anyone with a stoma, or family/friend and to provide speakers from manufacturers and stoma care nurses. The group has been running for nearly 4 years, it started with just 6 members and has grown to around 50 people. The group has helped many people find the right products for their stoma, one lady who has had a stoma for 30 years is so happy to at last have found a product that suits her and because of it is more outgoing. Our aim is not to raise money but to help people in practical ways.
